About Amy Levine
Amy has always loved making music. She began playing piano at an early age and has been an avid singer her entire life. As a child and teen, she tried her hand at most every instrument she could get her hands on – playing in youth orchestras, honor bands, musical theater pit orchestras, and marching bands, and singing in numerous choirs.
After completing a B.A. in History, cum laude, at Pomona College, Amy left the world of music for other realms. Almost on a whim, she joined a community choir in 1995 and rediscovered her passion for making music, especially for making music with others. She re-entered college, and in 2000 she completed a second B.A., this time in Music Education, and also completed her Teaching Credential in music, both at California State University, Northridge. In the past dozen years of teaching and choral conducting in a variety of settings, with both children and adults, Amy has seen first-hand how we most readily learn – when we are having fun and feeling inspired and, yes, even loved, the learning is deep and long-lasting.
When Amy discovered the Simply Music program, she fell in love. Finally, an approach to playing the piano that deeply connects with, uncovers, and strengthens our natural creativity and musicality! Amy’s excitement is unbounded as she partners with both adults and children on the journey of making music.
"It has been amazing for me to watch our three sons learn to play the piano so quickly. Not only do children learn to play quickly
with Simply Music, they feel so free and competent to explore music that they compose their own songs. Our nine-year-old and
our twelve-year-old have both composed original songs. Music fills our house and our boys' hearts and I love that! Simply Music
has been a gift for our family."
